A Special Place 08/05/2008 |

Holy
Trinity is one of 88 parishes of the Episcopal Church's Diocese of
Central Florida. However it is much more than that--it is a special
place. Just ask any of our parishioners. But what makes it so special
depends on whom you ask. The reasons are almost as many and varied as our
members.
For
some, it is the old 1888 Chapel itself, built of dark heart of pine, aged
and worn over time. The rich wood and modest size give the Chapel
character and a feeling of warmth and intimacy often lacking in more
modern and larger structures.
Others are awed by the sense of history one feels at Holy Trinity--the reverence, determination and perseverance of all the parishioners who worshiped here through the good times and the bad. Still others are swept up in the grandeur of the architectural style--Florida or carpenter Gothic it's called. The steep pitch of the roof , the wooden beams reaching up and the tall magnificent stained glass windows all draw your eyes upward toward heaven--you can just feel God's presence here. But without people, a church is nothing but an empty building. And for many, the quality that makes Holy Trinity such a special place is its people--the good, honest and loving folks who have made Holy Trinity their spiritual home. Our parishioners are a diverse group. They come from all parts of the country, and all walks of life. They hold varied opinions about political matters and social issues. They work, they are retired and they attend school. Some are life-long Episcopalians and others began in other denominations before becoming Episcopalians. But they all are united in a love of Christ, and a commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. What makes a place special can sometimes be as simple as the love of an animal. Holy Trinity has always been blessed with animals that have enriched the life of the parish. Over the years, the church has had several cats and a dog, and even its very own rooster, who was named Roger. Roger, like the other animals, just showed up in the churchyard one day and stayed, often earning his meals by announcing the 8:00 service with cheerful crowing. Although we are currently without any of our wonderful animals, it's only a matter of time until another one shows up on our doorstep and we are once again blessed with their presence. So what makes Holy Trinity so special? It's all of these qualities and more. But mostly it's the feeling we have in our hearts when we worship here. We invite you to join us on Sunday and experience this special place for yourself.
